Slovenia is a wonderful region offering many alternative cycling routes, which are nestled in the Alps, immersed amongst pleasant hills and embedded amongst beautiful lakes. Slovenia has been part of the European Union since 2004 and has an interesting mix of Austro/Hungarian and Italian cultures that render it a truly fascinating, cultural country.
Mountains and alpine lakes will lead us to the wondrous medieval city of Lubjana: it’s not just about the riding, we’ll have plenty of time to explore the locations and what’s more enjoy the local food and wine!

WHO WOULD ENJOY THIS EXPERIENCE?
The experience is built for all riders able to ride for 3-5 hours. This is not a race or high intensity riding, but rather a true cycling adventure across one of the most picturesque region in the world.
We will ride as a group on the rolling terrain and as individuals or small groups on the short climbs, so that everyone will enjoy the ride. On top of each major climb we will regroup to celebrate and refill our bottles, and then enjoy the descent together. As a team, we’ll support each other during the ride and make sure everyone finishes safe and happy!
All cyclists interested in exploring a new region, learning about local culture while admiring magnificent scenery will enjoy this incredible experience!

MORE ABOUT THE TERRAIN
We have selected some of the best routes offering a mix of all terrains, but the terrain will be mainly hilly with some 6-8 km climbs, but also a lot of flat-undulating sections.
The start from Trieste is perfect as it mostly flat, then route become hilly with some climbing when we cross the Alps and towards the end of the tour approaching Ljubljana.
The climbs are never hard as the gradient is always around 4-6% and when steeper, generally for short distances.
The roads are well-paved and safe, with drivers showing incredible respect for cyclists!

TOUR ITINERARY
Day One - Koper Warm-up Ride
Main Route: 25km | Total Ascent: 150mt
This is a warm-up ride to ease the legs and body into it. Some of you may have only recently stepped off a plane, so this ride offers a great way to “tease” out that tiredness. The route will take us into a beautiful park encountering some small climbs and will offer spectacular views of the Mediteranean Sea.
Day Two - Koper loop to Portoroz
Main Route: 50km | Total Ascent: 450mt
A nice and easy ride along the coast toward the Slovenian Border. We encounter a few not too difficult climbs, then enjoy some undulating terrain before we arrive back at sea level.
Day Three - Koper to Postojna
Main Route: 65 km | Total Ascent: 600m
Today we climb up to the hills to the fortified village of Motovun, hometown of the famous car driver Mario Andretti! Nice and quiet roads with olive trees, vineyards and Truffle!
Day Four - Postojna loop to Bec
Main Route: 60km | Total Ascent: 450m
We move south and stop visiting Porec, an Unesco site famous for its Bizantine Cathedral. Our fial destination is the fantastic town of Rovigno, one of the pearl of the Mediterranean sea.
Day Five - Postojna to Bled
Main Route: 85km | Total Ascent: 900m
During our longest ride we cross the pre-alps to the scenic lake of Bled, famous for its island and castle.
We have some nice climbs on our way but never very steep, always on very quiet roads immersed in beautiful forest. Great dinner with lake view at the end of our big day!
Day Six - Bled loop to Kranjska Gora
Main Route: 55km | Total Ascent: 600m
Today we take it easy and ride along the valley road to the Mountain resort of Kranjska Gora, famous for the Ski World Cup. Plenty of time in the afternoon to enjoy Bled and the lake.
Day Seven - Bled to Ljubljana
Routes: 50 km | Total Ascent: 900m
Our last transfer day take us to the capital city of Slovenia, Ljubljana. The town is very special, with an artistic city center rich of bridges and water. After the ride, we will go for a guided tour of the old town before we seat in one of the best restaurant in town for our celebration dinner! We strongly recommend to spend an extra day here at the end of the tour, so that you can enjoy the fresh atmosphere of this brilliant Slovenian city.
Day Eight - Zbogom (Goodbye)
