HIGHLIGHTS

This tour has something for everybody: some hilly lake-side riding, good climbing and thrilling descents but above all incomparable views across Italy’s northern alpine Region. We start in Sondrio, the capital of Valtellina! Here We will savour some of Italy’s finest wine and cuisine and explore some charming villages, great 

After two days we will ride into the Big Alps, climbing the Mortirolo and the Gavia before we get to Bormio! We will then climb the king of the Alps, the legendary Passo Stelvio from both sides!

Bormio is the perfect cycling town, Situated in the foothills of the Stelvio at 1400m altitude, it’s a charming town that offers great hotels and natural hot springs!

You will love the scenery and the atmosphere of these majestic mountains.

 YOUR RIDE 

WHO WOULD ENJOY THIS EXPERIENCE?

The experience is built for all riders able to ride for 3-5 hours. This is not a race or high intensity riding, but rather a true cycling adventure across some of the most picturesque region in the world.

We will ride as a group on the rolling terrain and as individuals or small groups on the short climbs, so that everyone will enjoy the ride. On top of each major climb we will regroup to celebrate and refill our bottles, and then enjoy the descent together. As a team, we’ll support each other during the ride and make sure everyone finishes safe and happy!

All cyclists interested in exploring a new region, learning about local culture while admiring magnificent scenery will enjoy this incredible experience.

MORE ABOUT THE TERRAIN

We have selected some of the best climbs of the Alps so the terrain will be mainly Mountains with some valley roads in-between. The start from Sondrio is perfect as a warm up, but from day three we climb the Stelvio, Gavia and Mortirolo!

The climbs are long and steady and the gradient is always around 7-8% and when steeper, generally for short distances.

There are some exceptions of course, such as the Mortirolo, where the gradient reach 15-17%!

MORE THAN 90 DAYS: FREE
90-30 DAYS: 250 euro for Admin Fee
29-16 DAYS: 500 euro for Cancellation Fee (loss of deposit)
15-7 DAYS: 50% of Tour Fee for Cancellation Fee, whichcan be transferred on any other trip within a year
7 DAYS or Less: 100% of Tour Fee for Cancellation Fee. 50% of the full amount can be transferred on any other trip within a year

TERMS

  • Cancellation and request for refund must be received in writing as soon as possible.
    ONE MORE RIDE will make no exceptions to our cancellation policy, irrespective of personal or external factors. This includes but is not limited to weather, personal emergencies, having to leave the tour early or arriving on tour late. Consider carefully your level of travel insurance to cover such eventualities.

  • If notice is received 15 days or more prior to tour commencement, tour payments may be transferred to another tour in the same year, subject to availability.
    The cancellation fee and subsequent refund, if applicable, is calculated on the base tour fee only. Extra costs such as single supplement or any other options which have been pre-paid by OMR are non-refundable.

TOUR ITINERARY 

Day One – Sondrio Warm-up Ride

Main Route: 40km; 25mi Total Ascent: 450m; 900ft

Activity: Airport pick up, Transfer to hotel, bike set up and ride

This is a warm-up ride to ease the legs and body into a week+ of riding.  Some of you may have only recently stepped off a plane, so this ride offers a great way to “tease” out that tiredness.  It will include some small climbs and offer beautiful views across the region.

Day Two – Sondrio Loop to Chiesa Valmalenco

Main Route: 65km; 42mi Total Ascent: 2000m; 6450ft

Today we’ll climb to Chiesa Valmalenco along a beautiful valley into the
the big alps. The view is always spectacular and the road very quiet, the
perfect condition to start this tour!

Day Three – Lake Como to Bormio

Main Route: 75km; 58mi Total Ascent: 1950m; 6100ft

We say goodbye to Sondrio and ride north along the spectacular Valtellina.
Big mountains on both sides, including the infamous Passo del Mortirolo,
will accompany us all day long!

Activity: relax and walk in Bormio!

Day Four - Bormio Rest Day

After three days of intense riding, we deserve some rest! Bormio is the perfect spot with its hot springs and natural pools. 

Activity: relax at Bagni Vecchi SPA

 

Day Five – Bormio Loop to Passo Stelvio

Main Route: 80km; 50mi Total Ascent: 2250m; 6900ft

Today is the big day: we climb the king of the mountain PASSO STELVIO! we have different options including the double ascent from Bormio first and from Prato. Both climbs are incredible and end up at 2750 mt above sea level!

Activity: rest!

Day Six – Bormio Loop to Passo Gavia

Main Route: 60km; 40mi Total Ascent: 1650m; 4900ft

if we will have some energy left, on the very last day we ride up to Passo Gavia, another legend climb of the Giro D'Italia. again, short or long option available including the challenging Passo del Mortirolo!
